Springfield campers share thoughts on event and Missouri

High school football prospects from several states were in attendance at Missouri's one day camp on Tuesday in Springfield, MO. One visitor in particular, 2011 Kentrell Brothers 6'1" 215 Guthrie, OK is well-known by the Missouri staff.

Brothers didn't participate in the testing at the camp, but spent the time hanging out with the coaches. He said "that was fun."

"It was fun getting to talk to Coach Stec(kel), Coach Pinkel, and Coach Henson," said Brothers. "I had mostly spoken to Coach Henson before. (Coach Steckel) is pretty cool. He's a funny guy. Coach Pinkel is a pretty cool guy, too. In my eyes, he's a pretty good all-around person."

Kentrell said that he still has Missouri on top of his list, and that his timetable for a decision hasn't changed.

"Nothing's changed, really. It's pretty much the same," said Brothers. "I want to make (a decision) sometime before football season. If not, then I'll just wait."

Kentrell's younger brother, 2013 WR Richard Brothers 6'3" 190, made the journey from Guthrie to Springfield on Tuesday along with Kentrell.

Richard spoke briefly about his impressions of the camp.

"I liked (the camp)," said the younger Brothers. "It was fun."

Richard Brothers likes the Tigers, too, and is hopeful of making a good impression on the Missouri staff this fall and beyond.

One of the several out-of-state offensive linemen in attendance at Missouri's one day camp in Springfield, MO was 2011 OT LaQuan McGowan 6'8" 370 Amarillo (TX) Boys Ranch. McGowan said that he has a Missouri offer, and combined his trip to the Missouri camp with an unofficial visit to the Missouri campus. ShowMeMizzou spoke with McGowan about his trip to Missouri and his recruitment.

McGowan also told us that he has an offer from Baylor, and that he's being recruited by Texas A&M, Oklahoma State, and others. He talked about what he learned at the camp.

"I've got a few things to work on," said the big lineman.

McGowan indicated that his recruitment is just getting started, and that he has no current favorites.

McGowan said that he "liked the Missouri campus a lot".

He stated that he doesn't really have a time-table for making a decision.

Duncan, OK 2011 OL Dylan Laurens talked about his impressions from the camp.

"There was a lot of people there that Missouri is looking at," said Laurens. "A lot of offensive linemen, so that was pretty good."

Laurens expressed some disappointment with his performance at the camp. He's still hopeful of receiving an offer from the Tigers, and expects to be speaking with Coach Henson a little later.

Webb City (MO) LB Christian Hoffman 6'1" 205 had a solid camp. Hoffman ,who consistently runs a 4.6 forty and has a 32.5 vertical jump, told us that he planned on making a trip to Columbia next week.

" I talked to coaches and they seemed to think I did well. I am going up for the team camp next weekend." said Hoffman." Coaches want to see me play the weak side linebacker position."

Hoffman will also be attending camp at Iowa State along with a few others.

Bartlesville (OK) DE Devin Randall 6'4".5 237lbs 4.7 is an impressive looking defensive lineman. Randall shows good strength to go along with his impressive speed. He gave the camp high marks.

" I really liked it. I thought I did pretty well."said Randall. "I think I learned a lot and hopefully the coaches were impressed."

Randall reports having an offer from Tulsa, but says that his dream is to play in the Big 12.

"Missouri would be my top choice along with Texas Tech as far as schools that I like. I am also getting hearing from Arkansas too."

The camp seemed heavy on offensive lineman, and Tuttle (OK) OT Kyle Osborn 6'5" 303 5.38 forty 25.3" vertical,, was among those who stood out.

Osborn also enjoyed the camp. He went to the Mizzou camp in St. Louis last year and hopes his performance has the Tigers taking a hard look at him.

" I went to the Missouri camp last year and like it. This one was fun as well. Coach Henson is from my hometown so I know him a little bit. He said they will sit down as a staff after all the camps and make some decisions on possibly offering kids."

2011 OL Garrett Stafford 6'5" 295 Tulsa (OK) Memorial.

Stafford is waiting on his first offer, saying that he's being recruited by a host of schools, including Arizona, Arkansas, Kansas, Missouri, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, TCU, and Tulsa.

He talked about his impression of the Missouri camp.

"It was a really good experience for me," said Stafford. "Not only was it good exposure, but it was a chance to work with some of those coaches............... I feel like I learned some stuff, and overall it was a good camp."
