#1 Alabama (7-0) Another ranked team goes down at the hands of the Crimson Tide. They are on cruise control and in my mind the clear #1 team in the nation.
#2 Florida (6-0) The Gators struggled with an unranked Arkansas team at home on Saturday. The Razorbacks aren’t terrible, but Florida shouldn’t have needed a last second field goal to win.
#3 Texas (6-0) Even though the Sooners turned the ball over 5 times, the Longhorns still struggled to score and only won by 3. Could the be vulnerable?
#4 Cincinnati (6-0) A easy win against the previously undefeated South Florida Bulls while missing their star QB for most of the game shows how good the Bearcats are.
#5 Iowa (7-0) The Hawkeyes are one of the most underrated undefeated teams I have ever seen. They continue to rack up big wins with their victory over Wisconsin.
#6 Boise State (6-0) Boise is closer to controlling it’s own destiny in the BCS, but they need to start dominating inferior opponents for that to be warranted.
#7 USC (5-1) They needed a goal line stop to beat #25 Notre Dame, but the Trojans are still the best 1 loss team in the nation.
#8 LSU (5-1) The Tigers’ bye week came at a good time after a punishing loss to Florida. Can they regroup and beat the Crimson Tide in 3 weeks?
#9 Miami (FL) (5-1) The Hurricanes finally get back to conference play this week against Clemson after 3 straight out of conference games.
#10 Oregon (5-1) Their upcoming game against Washington looked like a good one 3 weeks ago, but now the Huskies are 3-4 and the Ducks should be expected to dominate.
#11 Georgia Tech (6-1) The Yellow Jackets take the biggest leap in my rankings because of their impressive win over Virginia Tech.
#12 Oklahoma State (5-1) The win over Mizzou wasn’t pretty, but the Cowboys are learning to win without their 2 top playmakers.
#13 Penn State (6-1) Minnesota isn’t a bad football team, so the Nittany Lions’ 20-0 win against the Golden Gophers was pretty impressive.
#14 TCU (6-0) We’ll see what kind of team this is when they travel to BYU this weekend. This is their chance to get in the BCS discussion.
#15 Virginia Tech (5-2) The Hokies impressed me in the first 6 weeks of the year, so their bad loss to Georgia Tech was very confusing.
#16 Houston (5-1) Case Keenum already has over 2,400 passing yards and 19 TD’s. He is the reason they are dangerous.
#17 BYU (6-1) Can the Cougars win against the undefeated Horned Frogs of TCU this week and show that they deserve to be in the BCS discussion.
#18 Pittsburgh (6-1) No one is paying attention to these guys, but the Panthers should be one of the favorites in the Big East.
#19 Ohio State (5-2) As I said last week, the “same old Buckeyes” laid an egg against Purdue and has an uphill battle ahead of them if they want to win the Big 10.
#20 Texas Tech (5-2) Could there be a QB controversy in Lubbock? Behind the arm of Steven Sheffield, the Red Raiders have got in a groove in the past 2 weeks.
#21 Nebraska (4-2) I guess Husker fans got a little too excited a little too fast. Nebraska was brought back to earth when Texas Tech whooped them 31-10.
#22 West Virginia (5-1) They don’t have a signature win yet, but they will get their chance when they play Cincinnati and Pittsburgh in back-to-back weeks.
#23 Utah (5-1) Their only loss is to Oregon, but they haven’t been dominant against inferior competition, so I have them lower than most people do.
#24 South Carolina (5-2) They kept it competitive with Alabama, but the Gamecocks just didn’t have enough talent to pull off the upset.
#25 Kansas (5-1) After flirting with defeat in the last 2 weeks, the Jayhawks finally lost to a bad opponent. How will they respond this week against OU?
