Springtown athlete Clayton Cooper has a decision to make. Does he want to play wide receiver or safety at the next level.

Oklahoma State wants Cooper as a wide out in the Cowboys spread offense, Missouri wants the talented athlete to play safety.

Cooper got a chance to spend a day last week with the Mizzou Tiger coaching staff during their one day camp in Springfield. Cooper, who is originally from Missouri, has always been a Tiger fan.

“The camp went really well,” Cooper told InsideMizzou.com. “The Mizzou coaches seemed pleased with my performance, they are telling me they want to see film of me playing safety.”

Cooper ran a 4.5 forty at the Mizzou camp, showing the Tiger coaching staff that he has the speed to play several positions.

Cooper was surprised by the camp turnout.

“I couldn’t believe there were so many great athletes there,” Cooper said. “I think I did really well. I was pleased with the way I ran and did all the drills.”

Cooper also got some face time with the Tiger coaching staff.

“I got to visit with Coach (Gary) Pinkel and several of the assistant coaches,” Cooper said. “They really seemed to like me a lot, I think an offer could be on the way, I sure hope so.”

Cooper grew up rooting for the Tigers and its always been a life long dream to play for the Black and Gold.

“I have always loved Mizzou Football,” Cooper said. “Now I have to decide whether I want to play offense or defense the most.”

How does the Tigers stack up with Cooper?

“They are definitely at the top, Mizzou and Oklahoma State,” Cooper said. “Those are my top two schools.”
