Woods has Mizzou offer and interest in Tigers

Missouri already has a signature from one Rockwall Heath athlete for this past signing class, could the Tiger coaching staff get a second one for the 2010 Class? Mizzou has offered Austin Woods. Woods is familiar with blocking for Kendial Lawrence, could the Tigers land another great one from the same school? Go inside with InsideMizzou.com for the latest on Woods.

When talking about what is important to him in a potential college, Rockwall-Heath offensive lineman Austin Woods mentions that he wants to fit in well with the players that are already in the system. And how much better could he fit in with a player than blocking for the same running back that he blocked for in high school?

Kendial Lawrence, who will be a freshman running back at Missouri this fall, has been in his former teammates ear about it.

"Kendial has kind of joked with me about it a little bit," Woods admitted.

Although having Lawrence helps, another big factor to Missouri landing Woods would be a big off-the-field factor. Namely, academics.

"The most important thing is a good education," Woods explained. "I was actually just talking to Coach [Bruce] Walker earlier that [academics] this week about the offer and everything that they have going on at Missouri. It's definitely on my list of schools to think about."

Some types of spread offenses, such as the one at Missouri, require a type of agile and intelligent lineman that need to get down fields and make plays for their playmakers. So can Woods fall under that category if he needs to?

"If a school is recruiting me, I feel like I probably fit into their system pretty well," Austin explained when discussing the type of lineman he was. He put it pretty simply. "I'm just a big guy with good feet. I can block down on the line as well as get down the field and open big holes up."

With over 10 offers already, Woods will have plenty of candidates to take his services to, but with a great fit like Missouri already on his plate, Tiger fans have to feel good about their early chances at the big blocker from Texas.
