There is no doubt that Missouri is going after the best prospect that the state of Texas has to offer.

Gary Pinkel and his two offensive line coaches put their name in the ring with 14 other official offers Wednesday with Arlington High School offensive lineman Luke Joeckel.

Joeckel confirmed with InsideMizzou.com Thursday evening that Missouri was his latest offer.

"Coach Pinkel called one of my coaches and left a message for me to call them back," Joeckel said. "I spoke to Coach Pinkel and the two offensive line coaches Josh Henson and Bruce Walker. They told me how much they liked my film and how much they would love for me to come up for an unofficial visit this spring."

Missouri has a lot of company, Joeckel also holds official offers from Texas Tech, Texas A&M, Arizona, Arizona State, Baylor, SMU, Wisconsin, Purdue, Vanderbilt, Oklahoma, Nebraska, Auburn (earlier this week), Arkansas, and Oklahoma State.

"I like Missouri a lot," Joeckel said. "They are definitely up at the top of my list, they have a great program, one I would be proud to play for."

Joeckel spent a lot of time on the phone with both Coach Pinkel and Coach Henson, the former recruiting coordinator at LSU.

"Coach Pinkel told me he would to see me in black and gold," Joeckel said. "He told me what a great place Missouri was to play and coach and that they would love for me to be a part of their program. Coach Henson told me that he loved my film and wants me to come up and visit this spring to get to know the staff and the players."

Joeckel plans on doing just that.

"I definitely want to take an unofficial visit there this spring," Pinkel said. "I want to get to know the coaches a lot better and see how I fit in with their program."

Why is Joeckel getting so much early attention?

"I think the early offers have come mainly because of my size," the 6'6", 287 pound lineman explains. "I also had a really good junior season, and I think that the coaches were impressed with what they saw on my highlight films."

That's apparent from the Mizzou coaching staff comments to Joeckel, InsideMizzou.com will keep you up to date on his recruitment.
