One of the state's top high school prospects of the Show Me State picked up an official offer from the University of Missouri Saturday.

For Timberland's Nick Demien, who grew up watching his uncle play for the Black and Gold, the offer was something that he was hoping for.

"I have always liked Mizzou a lot," Demien told InsideMizzou.com. "I have been going to games for a long time. Growing up watching my uncle Dave Demien play for the Tigers."

Demien, a 6-foot-6, 290-pound athlete, was one of over 50 prospects in attendance at Mizzou's Annual Junior Day held Saturday.

"I got to take a tour of the campus and of all their athletic facilities," Demien said. "I hadn't seen the new academic building, it's incredible. I love the campus, everything is brand new."

Demien also got to spend some one on one time with head coach Gary Pinkel.

"They called me off to the side and offered me a scholarship," Demien said. I was very excited about it; I was hoping one was coming."

Currently Demien has two official offers, one from Mizzou and the other from Iowa.

Is Demien close to pulling the trigger for the Tigers?

"I plan on playing out the recruiting process," Demien said. "I want to see who else offers. Mizzou would have the early edge for the fact that I have always loved the Tigers, but I plan on keeping an open mind right now."
