Another Big Visitor For Mizzou-Nebraska?
Leshoure told InsideMizzou.com he received an invite to the Nebraska-Mizzou game Oct. 6, and is planning to make the trip to check out Columbia for the first time.
"Coach [Cornell] Ford called me the other day and told me they want me to come out for the Nebraska game. He said he's going to call me in about a week to set it up and make sure I'm on the list," said Leshoure, who holds offers from Mizzou, Illinois, Wisconsin, Kansas, Boston College and Northern Illinois. "I'm pretty sure I'm going to make it out, my mom said she just has some things to work out with her job and then we can make it out."
Leshoure, rated a three-star prospect and the No. 46 running back in the nation, has led his team to a 3-1 start this year. Despite missing time with a hamstring injury, he's already racked up roughly 700 yards rushing, 200 yards receiving and six touchdowns. He runs a 4.6-second 40-yard dash despite his bulkiness, and compares himself to Kansas City Chiefs star Larry Johnson. All of the schools on his list are recruiting him as a tailback.
Leshoure is slow-playing his recruitment, focusing on his senior year and making sure he visits the right schools. He says he doesn't have a favorite, despite his proximity and familiarity with Illinois, and is unsure when and where his official visits will be. He also is unconcerned about location.
"That's not really a concern. If I need to go, I can go," he said.
So what is he looking for in a school?
"Somewhere with a good atmosphere, and where I like the coaches and I like the players. And I want to go to school for Kinesiology," he said. "Other than that, nothing special."
He said he has paid attention to Mizzou's results, but is still learning about the system, the players and the program in general.
"Oh yeah, that's definitely a school I'm looking at," he said. "I just need to get out there and see the campus, and meet the coaches and see the facilities, stuff like that."
He'll have his chance in 10 days.
