Arlington (Texas) Bowie cornerback Kip Edwards has a distinct preference when it comes to picking his future college home.
Arlington (Texas) Bowie cornerback
Kip Edwards
has a distinct preference when it comes to picking his future college home.
“Really the campus and being part of a family – as soon as I get there, boom, I’m partof the family,” said Edwards, a 6-foot-1, 170-poun rising senior who holds offers from Missouri,
Iowa
,
Louisville
,
Wisconsin
,
North Texas
,
Kansas
and
UTEP
.
So, then, the obvious question for Mizzou fans: Did Edwards have that feeling when he visited Columbia earlier this summer?
“Yes, I did,” he said. “But I didn’t want to commit so soon. I still have plans to see more schools.”
Mizzou is the only school Edwards has visited this summer, and he has one more visit planned – to
Arkansas
later this month. He says he hasn’t cut down his list yet, as several more schools may be close to offering, but he said MU is one of the top schools on his list.
“Really nice coaching staff. I loved the facilities. It was a real nice atmosphere,” he said. “I’m seriously looking at them.”
Edwards is quite a commodity because of his excellent size. He also runs very well for his size and has the right mentality.
“I love to hit,” he said. “My strategy is don’t bend, don’t break. I know I’ll get beat for a big play sometimes, but I have to come back on the next play and lock it down.”
Edwards, who racked up more than 70 tackles along with two interceptions last year – his first as a corner -- plans to commit toward the beginning of his senior year. He’s being recruited by assistant coach Craig Kuligowski, and is hoping to learn more about MU in the coming months before making a commitment.
