Amie looking forward to MU visit

MU is a finalist for highly touted WR Jacob Amie.

With Missouri 's 2007 recruiting class all but finished and a week between now and signing day, the staff would love to finish on a successful note. There would be no better way to do it than by reeling in Lee (Tx.) High wide receiver Jacob Amie, who spoke with InsideMizzou Tuesday night about his upcoming official visit to Columbia this weekend.

Amie, who is apparently down to MU, Nebraska , Colorado and Texas Tech, will be setting foot in Columbia for the first time. He'll then make his decision in the days thereafter. But he said the timing of his visits won't have any affect on his decision.

"I don't have a favorite until I take the last visit," said Amie, a 6-foot-4, 215-pound athlete supreme. "I'm really just want to meet all the coaches and all the guys and see what the town is like."

Amie committed to Texas Tech before the start of the season, but has since wavered and has been showing a lot of interest in Nebraska -- to the point where some speculate he's a Cornhusker lean. But Nebraska is recruiting him as a tight end, while Mizzou is offering him a spot as his position of preference, wide receiver.

One of his objectives for this weekend is to sit down with the coaches and get a good feel for how they would utilize his abilities, which are highlighted by his athleticism and speed; he runs 4.62-second 40-yard dash, which is quite impressive for a player of his size.

"I just want to make sure it's the position I play," he said. "But as long as I touch the ball once in a while, I'm fine."

In MU, he sees a program on the upswing and an offensive attack suited to his skills.

"They're a program on the rise. I know they're going to be good in the future," said the three-star prospect from Tyler, Tx. "And I know they throw the ball a lot, so I could be successful there."

InsideMizzou will keep you posted as the clock ticks toward signing day…
