Defender Planning July Missouri Visit

Defender Planning July Missouri Visit

ShowMeMizzou.com spoke recently with a talented Midwest defender, who broke down his football recruitment, along with where things are with the Missouri Tigers.

Nearly two months ago, Missouri extended a scholarship offer to 2015 CB prospect Isaac James 5’11” 183 Carmel (IN). Recently, James spoke to ShowMeMizzou.com, and he talked about his interest in Missouri, and he updated us on the current status of his recruitment.

“Missouri was a big offer,” said James. “It was my first SEC offer. So, that was pretty cool. It’s one of the biggest schools that have offered me, so it was exciting!”

“Coach Ford came out to my school this spring,” explained James, who plays quarterback for his high school team. “He said that they liked me.”

James currently holds offers from Air Force, Army, Ball State, Illinois, Indiana, Miami (OH), Navy, Northwestern, Ohio, Toledo, Western Michigan, and Wisconsin, in addition to Missouri. The military academies want James to play QB, while some other schools want him to play receiver, and still others, including Missouri, want him to play corner.

“I think an offer to play corner at Missouri is a huge opportunity,” said James. “The SEC is known for having a lot of defensive backs that go to the NFL.”

The 16-year-old senior-to-be is a good student who also competes in track for his high school. He’s posted personal bests of 10.80 seconds in the 100 meters, and 23’4” in the long jump, to go along with a 4.40-second 40-yard dash, a 37” standing vertical jump, a 4.20-second 5-10-5 shuttle, and a maximum in the bench press of 285 pounds.

James has already taken an unofficial visit to Indiana, a school that has offered him, and to Louisville and Ohio State, two schools that have not yet offered him. He’s planning to take an unofficial visit to Missouri later this month.

“I’m going to take a visit to Missouri,” said James. “I talked to Coach Ford. He said that all the staff will be back on campus by July 21st. So, he said that I should come take a visit.”

James said that he has a good relationship with Coach Ford. He said that he’d like to make a decision sooner rather than later, but he’s not in a rush.
