WSU RECRUITING NOTEBOOK

DL PROSPECT OUT OF OREGON IS ONE TO WATCH

NOT ALL THE junior day participants at Wazzu this past weekend were from the Evergreen State. One of the visitors from Oregon is an intriguing defensive lineman who thinks after this weekend he may be on track to earn a crimson scholie offer.

The Cougs played host to Lake Oswego product Marqueese Royster over the weekend.

The 6-1, 250 pound defensive lineman had positive things to say about his trip to the Palouse.

"It was great," Royster said. "I loved it. We got to tour the facilities and saw what they were going to look like once they are done. The staff was amazing and I loved the defensive line coach (Joe Salave'a). I could definitely see myself going there."

Royster was not offered a scholarship during his trip, but said he feels that could change shortly.

"Coach Salave'a said … he was going to watch my film and be in close contact with me soon. I think they're going to offer me soon," said Royster.

NOTABLE NOTES:
  • Two visitors from Coeur d'Alene, quarterback Gunnar Amos and receiver Chase Blakley, both said they had memorable experiences over the weekend and enjoyed getting to know some of the WSU coaches and players.

Both players also left the Palouse without offers. Blakley is rated a four star tight end by scout.com and holds offers from UW, EWU, Idaho and Idaho State. Amos is unrated at this early stage and holds an offer from Idaho State.

  • As reported earlier on CF.C, Eastlake safety prospect Drew Lewis picked up an offer from the Cougs at junior day. In case you missed it, we had this write up posted on Saturday evening.

  • The offer to Lewis looks to be the only new one coming out of the junior day, though the Cougs have extended other offers since to prospects in Texas, Oklahoma and California. CF.C is following those up as well as some others that might be out there.
