FSU lands south Florida athlete

John Franklin

John Franklin from South Plantation just committed to Florida State.

Florida State landed a commitment this morning from south Florida standout athlete John Franklin from South Plantation High School.

Franklin, 6-foot-1 and 175-pounds, was just offered by the Seminoles yesterday morning. He plays quarterback and wants a shot at that position in college. FSU will give him a shot as a signal caller and is recruiting him as an athlete.

If things don't work out as a quarterback Franklin could play cornerback or receiver.

I saw him play against Hollywood Hills last month. Franklin has above average arm strength but needs to play with much more consistency is terms of throwing the football and being more accurate as a passer. That's a must if he really wants to play this position in college.

Franklin would also be a heck of a receiver or defensive back. He has very good speed, quickness and shows great ability to change direction. Franklin has a very good short burst. This combination of speed and elusiveness make him very tough in the pocket, as he does a very nice job of extending plays with his legs.

Here is video from that game -
