JW3 Is A Missouri Tiger!

The Missouri Tigers basketball program picked up a major commitment from one of the top prospects in the 2013 basketball class as Johnathan Williams III will be a Tiger.

On Thursday evening, 2013 F prospect Johnathan Williams  6'9"  212   Memphis (TN) Southwind made the announcement that he will play his college basketball at Missouri.

Williams, who goes by the nickname "J3", chose Missouri over Arkansas, Connecticut, George Mason, Georgetown, Michigan State, Tennessee, and Texas, among many others.  Williams is the #9-ranked power forward, and the #31 player overall, in this class.

J3 is not just a highly-regarded and talented basketball player.  Coach Frank Haith and the Tigers are also getting a quality-character young man who comes from a good family.  His Twitter page carries the inscription, "6'9 small forward playing for Jesus".

As a player, J3 has been compared to a young Lamar Odom.

"He's a lefty,"  said J3's high school coach, Paul Edwards, speaking of Williams III.   "He handles it.   He shoots the ball well from the three, mid-range, as well as on the inside.   He's a good passer.   He likes to lead the break.   He'll get the board and lead the break."

J3 was particularly impressed with Missouri on his official visit last month, when he was hosted by an old friend from his home town in Mizzou senior forward Laurence Bowers.   He's expected to sign with Missouri next month.

ShowMeMizzou.com will have more on J3 a little later.
