Collins Excited About Missouri Offer

The Missouri Tigers had a busy day of recruits on campus for unofficial visits, including extending a verbal offer to a talented Defensive Tackle identified back at the Tigers one day camp in Kansas City. identified Kansas City (MO) Center DT Maliek Collins among the top 2013 prospects who attended the Missouri one day camp back in early June in Liberty at William Jewell. The powerful defensive tackle prospect stood out with his speed, athleticism, quickness and ability to be coached quickly.

Apparently, the Tiger staff really liked what they saw at camp and today extended an offer to Maliek Collins while on his unofficial visit to Mizzou today.

"It went great today!" said Collins. got to campus about 10:20 and met with the coaches, spoke to Mike Alden for a good long time, and got to look around at everything. I love their weight room! Then I got called to Coach Pinkel's office and he talked to me and said he'd like me to be a Missouri Tiger and offered me. I was surprised since I wasn't expecting it, but I had an idea once I knew Coach Pinkel wanted to talk to me."

I asked Maliek what was going through his mind once he received his offer?

"I was really happy. Missouri has been my top school and are my top school after my offer. I just told Coach Pinkel that I needed a little time to think things over and tell my family. I couldn't have an answer on such short notice," said Collins. "I went with my high school coach today, and he asked me if I thought I could see myself living here for the next five years, and I said yeah. So, I hope to have a decision in a few weeks. I will be coming back up for an official visit for sure."

Maliek said that he felt at home on campus, with the coaches and the other Missouri commits and recruits on campus.

"I got to talk with Coach Kul, Coach Yost, Coach Hill, all the Missouri coaches. They were very encouraging and all seem to want me at Missouri. It was also good meeting and talking to guys like Trent Hosick , Zach Hannon, Anthony Sherrils and the rest. Like I said, it was great!"

Collins alerted of his plans to take an official visit today last week. He said that the Tiger coaches had hoped to see him in pads at their team camp in Columbia, but there was a miscommunication about his attending.

Maliek also told me at the time that he had heard from Nebraska and New Mexico along with Indiana State as of late. will keep you update with Maliek Collins' recruitment.
