Missouri On Top For Defender

The Missouri Tigers appear to be in good position for a top defensive line prospect in the 2013 recruiting class that they have targeted with an offer.ShowmeMizzou.com speaks with a Tiger offer who updates us on the latest with him.

Defensive line is a priority for the Missouri Tigers in their 2013 football class. And while ShowMeMizzou.com has identified a large number of defensive tackles as of late, the Tigers are still pursuing defensive end just as intently.

One of those DE targets is Bushnell (FL) South Sumter 2013 prospect Darien Williston 6'4" 240lbs 4.7 forty, who has held a Missouri offer for a little over a month now.

The athletic defensive end spoke to us about his Tiger offer and recruitment.

"I like Missouri a lot," said Williston, who had just finished communicating with Mizzou recruiting coach Brian Jones when we spoke. "I just gone done telling Coach Jones that I am thinking about committing to Missouri soon. They are on on top right now after I have done my research and from talking with Coach Jones. He tells me how they have a need for D-linemen like myself and it's big that they are coming to the SEC this year. Missouri was one of the schools that came by during our spring football and watched me and my team and offered. They liked what they saw. Coach Jones said he'd be very excited if I committed."

Williston, who listed a top 4 of Missouri, Kentucky, Rutgers and Iowa State said that he was just waiting on his Mother's blessing before pulling the trigger.

" I am planning on sitting down and talking things over with my Mom and making sure she is ok with it. My family is fine with my decision as long as I am happy. Distance and all that won't be a factor. Just going somewhere with a family atmosphere, good coaches and people that I can get my degree in sports medicine at is what is most important to them," said Williston.

Williston, who grew up and SEC and ACC fan, described himself as a balanced player who was equally good against the run as well as getting after the QB on a pass rush, said that not being able to see Missouri until making his official visit was not a big deal.

"I wish I could go see the school on an unofficial visit, but financially, that is just too difficult to do for me and my Mom right now. I know enough that I can wait and take my official to Mizzou."

The super athletic Williston, who also plays basketball, self reported a 4.7 forty time along with a 39" vertical jump and 350lbs bench press and 500lbs squat. He was named honorable mention All-State in 2011.
