Pollard Enjoys Missouri Visit

The Missouri Tigers are hoping to close out their 2012 basketball recruiting staff in a big way, and they made a strong move in that direction by hosting 5-star forward Devonta Pollard this past weekend.

Over the weekend, Coach Frank Haith and the Missouri Basketball program hosted an official visit from one of the top remaining prospects in the 2012 recruiting class, in SF Devonta Pollard 6'8" 200 De Kalb (MS) Kemper County.

Pollard and his mother, Jessie, enjoyed their Missouri visit, and came away impressed.  ShowMeMizoou.com spoke with Kemper County basketball coach, Kelvin Young, and he shared some of what the Pollards had to say about Missouri upon their return to Mississippi.

"They really enjoyed (Missouri),"  said Coach Young.  "They said that it was exciting, and it was really nice.  (Devonta) said that he could see himself playing in a Missouri jersey.  He was really excited about it!  He really liked it.  They really enjoyed their trip.  His mom enjoyed it too."

Devonta Pollard's mother is Jessie Brown Pollard, who played basketball at South Alabama.  Now, Jessie teaches and coaches at Kemper County.  Devonta's father passed away about three years ago.

Coach Young indicated that Pollard will take visits to Kentucky and Georgetown "soon".  He said that Pollard won't make a decision until closer to April.

Coach Young is familiar with Coach Haith from when Coach Haith was at Miami.  He referred to the Missouri staff as "very professional".

"Devonta had good things to say about the Missouri staff,"  said Coach Young.  "That Kansas game was a great atmosphere."

Coach Young said that he enjoys watching this year's Missouri team.  He said that he likes the way they play, and that it looks like "they really like each other".
