Missouri In The Final Mix for DL Standout

With just a little less then three weeks until signing day, recruits are narrowing their lists of schools and getting down to picking their college destination in a serious manner. ShowMeMizzou.com has the latest with this target.

The Missouri Tigers received an official visit from DeSoto (TX) DE Michael Richardson 6'2" 230 4.6 back on December 9th in 2011 as the talented rush end, who was committed to Texas A&M from the previous summer, was exploring his options after the coaching change when Mike Sherman was fired.

Since then, Richardson decided not to talk about his recruitment, but instead referred questions about his recruitment to his head coach, Claude Mathis. ShowMeMizzou.com spoke with Coach Mathis this week to get an update as to where Richardson's recruitment is at, and where Mizzou stood with him at the moment.

"Missouri has done a great job of recruiting Michael," said Mathis. "He really enjoyed himself on his official visit up there, and they showed Michael how much they want him and how he would fit into things with them. He really liked it. They continue to do a great job of recruiting him since then. They are definitely in the mix with him."

Coach Mathis told me that it is a three team race for his standout defender at the moment.

"He is making his official visit to Texas A&M this weekend, and then he is still going to visit Oklahoma, most likely the following weekend of the 20th," he said. "After that he is going to figure where the best place is for him and make a decision sometime after that from between A&M,Missouri and Oklahoma."

Richardson is still considered a soft verbal commitment to Texas A&M.

ShowMeMizzou.com will continue to update Michael Richardson's recruitment.
