The Missouri Tigers have received a commitment from SG Jabari Brown 6'4" 205 Oakland (CA) to enroll at Missouri for the 2012 Spring semester. Brown began the 2011-2012 season as a freshman at Oregon, before deciding to transfer last month.
Jabari came out of high school ranked as the 21st player overall in the country and #5 shooting guard by Scout.com as he received a 5-star rating.
ShowMeMizzou.com spoke with Brown's former AAU coach Mark Olivier of the Oakland Soldiers. He told us about Brown.
"Jabari's always been one of my favorites kids in the whole world," said Coach Olivier, speaking of Brown. "He's a very special kid, in more ways than one. First of all, he's a very smart kid. He's very studious, in terms of reading, and knowing what he wants out of life. (Missouri) got a good one! Jabari Brown is one of the best Soldiers in our program, on a basketball level. (Missouri) got a good one in him! No question."
"He can do everything on the basketball court," said Coach Olivier, talking about Brown. "He's a big guard. He shoots it really well! He's a dead-eye shooter. He defends, and plays extremely hard."
Coach Olivier said that Brown has an NBA-type body, and possesses an array of shots, from anywhere on the court.
As soon as Brown's enrollment paperwork is completed, he can begin practicing with Missouri. He will be eligible to play at the end of the 2012 Fall Semester.
