Florida Guard Gives Recruiting Update

Florida Guard Gives Recruiting Update

The Missouri Tigers appear to be in the running for one of the top guards in the 2012 recruiting class from the state of Florida. ShowMeMizzou.com has the very latest with his recruitment.

Almost two months ago, the Missouri Tigers hosted several unofficial visitors within a just few days, including a couple of 2012 combo guards in Rodney Purvis and Shawn Smith 6'4" 186 Jacksonville (FL) Arlington Country Day. On Sunday evening, ShowMeMizzou.com spoke with Smith, and he updated us on his recruitment.

"Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah," replied Smith, when I asked him if he was still high on Missouri. "I'm saving one of my official visits for them, actually."

Smith said that he doesn't have a top five, but he listed South Carolina, Florida State, Cincinnati, Miami, and Missouri, as schools that he's planning to visit. He doesn't have any of those visits scheduled, but indicated that he wants to take those visits over the next couple of months.

He's planning to sign in November.

"Yes. I'm going to definitely (sign in November)," said Smith.

Smith said that he views the possibility of playing with Rodney Purvis as a positive. Even though they both play the same position, he feels that as combo guards, they could play side by side.

"Oh, yeah! (Playing with Purvis) would be cool," remarked Smith. "Because he's a real good teammate.............................. I just want to win!"

ShowMeMizzou.com will have more on Shawn Smith's recruitment later.
