Texas Lineman Considering Missouri

The Missouri Tigers continue their recruiting ways in Texas by targeting a rising line prospect who would add to an already strong group that would contunie to strengthen the class.

The Missouri Tigers are well on their way to landing possibly their best class of offensive lineman under head coach Gary Pinkel with commitments from in-state standout Evan Boehm and Texas standouts Germain Ifedi and Simon Goines all ready in the fold.

Now it looks like the Tigers are trying to dip into the Lonestar state one more time for offensive lineman Jordan Williams 6'4" 265lbs, 5.1forty, from Denton (TX) Ryan.

Williams holds a Tiger offer and has picked up steam as a recruit over the past few months after coming on during his junior season as Ryan's most improved player on their team.

ShowMeMizzou.com spoke with Williams to get the latest on his recruitment and specifically to get his thoughts on the Tigers and their offer.

"The Tigers came to my school during the evaluation period and saw me,"said Williams. "They liked what they saw of my film and me and extended me an offer. Coach Walker is recruiting me and he seems like a good guy."

Williams is familiar with the Mizzou program and knows current Tiger Bud Sasser who also attended Ryan.

"I have watched them on TV," he said. "They are a good program who has been successful and they have good coaches. They play in the Big 12 and I am friends with Bud (Sasser) who goes there. They are a school I would like to visit."

Coaches seem to like Jordan Williams, size, athletic ability and see the potential for him to play either guard or tackle.

He picked up early offers from schools such as Kansas State, Boise State,Colorado, Oregon State and Stanford along with Missouri. One of his more recent offers comes from UCLA.

"It was exciting to get an offer from them. They have tradition and are a PAC  10 school," said Williams.

He is pretty focused on what he is looking for in picking the right school for himself.

"I am looking for a great education first. Then a school that has great coaches that I can build a relationship with who are 110% focused on making me the best I can be as a player and student."

And is there a timeline for him wanting to make a decision by?

"I would like to take some visits first,"said Williams. " I want to try and wait until the end, but if I visit a school and know that it's the right place for me then I will make a commitment."

Jordan Williams is an athletic offensive lineman who continues to grow and improve as a player. He was labeled a sleeper prospect before the spring evaluation period, but has since become a well known commodity.

ShowMeMizzou.com will continue to follow Jordan WIlliams recruitment closely.
