Painter Stays At Purdue

Purdue men's head basketball coach Matt Painter's flirtation with Missouri ended this afternoon with him rejecting the Tigers offer and re-signing with the Boilermakers

The Purdue Boilermakers were able to persuade men's basketball coach Matt Painter to stay at his alma mater with a new 8-year contract extention this afternoon according to the Purdue official athletic website Purduesports.com.

Said Painter: "I am extremely excited about continuing my career at Purdue. I believe we have built something very special. At the same time, I feel we have much more ahead of us to accomplish.

"At the end of the day, my heart is at Purdue, and this is a place where I want to win a national championship."

No terms of the new contract were given.

Painter is in Florida and will return to campus later today or tomorrow.
