The University of Missouri is getting ready to place it's third straight quarterback under Gary Pinkel in the NFL during his tenure there. The latest, Blaine Gabbert, being mentioned at the first QB taken overall and being a possible top 5 pick in the 2011 NFL draft.
So it is no wonder that the Tigers are drawing interest from some talented signal callers for the 2012 recruiting class.
One of them being Kenton (OH) stat-machine Maty Mauk 6'2" 190 who threw for a ridiculous 5,670 yards and 69 TDs in 2010, completing 65% of his passes, and only throwing 14 interceptions in 568 pass attempts. The athletic Mauk also carried the ball for over 900 yards rushing and 16 more touchdowns while leading his team, which averaged 51 points per game, to an 11-2 record and loss their regional final by 3 points.
Maty Mauk visited Missouri last summer and during the season for a game. The gunslinger was also among the many prospects who attended Missouri's junior day on January 22nd.
ShowMeMizzou.com spoke with Mauk about his visit.
"It was really good," said Mauk. "I have been there before, but the best part was talking to Coach Yost and Coach Pinkel more. Also, just meeting more of the guys and seeing more things."
Mauk said that he also got to meet a few of the other prospects and talk with them.
I asked Maty if he would be heading back to Mizzou sometime in the future.
"Yeah, I'm gonna try to," replied Mauk. "Hopefully sometime in the spring or summer."
Mauk will be heading to Notre Dame's junior day next. I asked him if Missouri and Notre Dame were his top schools.
"Yes, it's Missouri, Notre Dame and Cincy (Cincinnati)."
ShowMeMizzou.com will continue to follow the recruitment of Maty Mauk.
