Commitment Soon?

Three star Louisiana defensive tackle talks about his upcoming official visits and about a possible commitment happening soon

Chuck Hunter, the 6-foot-1, 290-pound three-star defensive tackle from West Monroe, La., will be taking an official visit to TCU on Jan. 14 and says the Horned Frogs are the team to beat.

"It's close to home (four hours away) and I'm very comfortable there," Hunter said about TCU. "It's a great environment and I love all the coaches there. They make me feel very welcome and at home."

He says the Horned Frogs are recruiting him the hardest.

"They won the Rose Bowl and that was great to see," he said. "I think that team can continue winning and hopefully I can help them win a national championship."

Hunter admits he's getting close to making a commitment. "I'll probably be doing it soon," he said. "I haven't talked to my father about it yet. I need to do that first."

TCU leads solidly over Louisiana Tech, Missouri and Oklahoma State and Hunter says that all four have offered.

He has official trips scheduled with all of them this month and plans on taking them. "Even if I committed I'd still probably go on these trips."

Besides the Horned Frogs, Hunter says that Oklahoma State has come on very strong as of late. "They had some coaches at my school this week and they've been recruiting me a lot more recently," he said.

He'll be visiting the Cowboys officially on Jan. 28. "It's a great program," he said about Oklahoma State. "They play in the Big 12 and they seem to be on-the-rise too."

Another Big 12 program that Hunter is considering is Missouri. He plans to visits the Tigers officially on Jan. 21. "They need some d-linemen," he said. "I think there's a good shot I'd play early there."

Hunter, ranked as the No. 48 defensive tackle in the country by Scout.com, says he also has offers from Baylor, Louisiana Monroe and Mississippi State.

He helped lead his team to a 14-1 record (West Monroe lost in the state championship game to Acadian). Hunter had 85 tackles and five sacks.

He reports a 2.3 core GPA and says he received a 20 ACT on his retake. His first score was a 17.
