Missouri has been on a search for offensive linemen to add to their 2011 football recruiting class, and they appear to have found another one they like in Allen (TX) OG/C Brad McNulty 6'3" 305lbs.
McNulty pulled the trigger on a Tiger offer he received this week after making an unofficial visit a few weeks back the same time as Tiger commit Clarence Green.
ShowMeMizzou.com spoke with McNulty a little while ago and asked him about his commitment and him as a player.
"I committed to the University of Missouri today", said McNulty. 'I got the offer the other day and it was a pretty easy decision for me. I have talked to Coach Walker who recruits my area for a while now, and he said he would work to get me an offer, so I was kind of expecting it. I am very happy to be a Tiger", he added.
McNulty said that his visit helped make up his mind in the end.
"I went up to Missouri and saw the place and I realized it was a place I could call home. The coaches were great, everyone was great. I knew that it was a place that I would want to be even if football didn't work out or I wasn't looking for a school to play football at. It had everything I was looking for."
McNulty, who plans to major in criminal justice, talked about what the Tigers were looking for from him and where he would likely play.
"I primarily play right guard and a little center here at Allen. I am comfortable snapping the ball, I do it every day.Coach Walker said that I would mostly play center at Missouri. We play the spread here, so I am pretty comfortable with it."
Allen(TX) head coach Tom Westerberg has the following to say about his offensive lineman
"Skill level is that he has started for us for 3 years (34 games). Our record in those games is 31 – 3. Started every game at right guard as a soph. the year we won the state championship. Not going to find many that will out work Brad. Of the lines he has played on several are playing in college. 2 are red shirting this year at Baylor and A&M. One is playing at Princeton. One is playing at Bucknell."
Brad McNulty also had offers from Houston,Tulsa and Vanderbilt before receiving and accepting the one from the Tigers. Besides Missouri, he had also visited Vanderbilt.
He self reports a forty time of 5.5 and weight maxes of 305lbs in the bench, 505lbs in the squat and 260lbs in the incline and clean.
McNulty said that he plans to make another visit to Missouri after his football season is over.
